I started Charlotte Henry Design because I believe in the life-changing power of good design.
My interior design career was born out of necessity—and quickly opened my eyes to the importance of design.
As with all businesses, mine started with a problem. Naive and newlywed, my husband and I set out to build our first home in the North.
Now, if you’ve ever built a home … you know construction is expensive. But in the Northwest Territories, it’s crazy expensive (we’re talking life-savings gone in a blink). To stay within our budget, we exercised a lot of creativity to bring our vision to life.
In the process, I learned a couple of things:
You don’t need to spend a boatload of money to create a beautiful space.
Really good design happens when you understand the details of how people live and work in a space—right down to the number of spoons in the kitchen.
Long story short, I saw a need for realistic design in the Northwest Territories: aesthetically pleasing, but more accessible than the glossy pages of high-end magazines.
When you walk into a room and think, “wow—this space is beautiful,” your mood shifts. Your shoulders relax. You feel safe. You feel connected.
